Developmental Editing:
Developmental editing focuses on big-picture issues such as plot, pacing, character development, world-building, etc.
Up to 40k Words: $300
Up to 80k Words: $500
Up to 120k Words: $700
Line Editing:
Line editing examines word choice and sentence structure to ensure the tone is cohesive and the reading flows smoothly- all while maintaining your unique style. If your style isn’t consistent, I address this, too.
Up to 40k Words: $250
Up to 80k Words: $400
Up to 120k Words: $550
Development & Line Editing
Book both developmental and line edits together for discounted services.

The Process
Read How My Process Works
Step 1
Send me an email at hello@vanessamichelperry.com with your name, genre, a short description of your work, word count,which editing services you are seeking, which month you'd like to book, and 1000-word sample (attached as a DOC) from the beginning of your manuscript.
**Developmental Edits should be complete before Line Edits. You do not have to use my services for both, even though there is a package deal; many authors prefer hiring different editors for each type of edits.
Step 2
I will read and decide if I believe we are a good fit. If so, I will edit your sample as if I were starting the whole manuscript.
Step 3
I will send the sample edits back to you within two business days (as well as an estimate based on Price List above) so you can decide if we are a good fit.
Step 4
You email back, within two business days, to let me know if you'd like to proceed. If so, we continue to Step 5.
Step 5
I draw a contract with pricing and payment information, the start and finish date for edits, a confidentiality agreement, and other important information (don’t worry; it’s not complicated). Editing takes 4-6 weeks dependent on various factors. I send you the document to sign.
Step 6
You read the document and email me with any questions or changes you'd like to make. You sign and return.
Step 7
I then sign and you will have your copy. I will begin edits.
Step 8
After edits are complete, I send them to you (with an editorial letter for developmental edits). I will also give you the option to book a 45 min Zoom call for you to ask any questions you may have. After this point, you are ready to make your edits!
Please note, I will be available for any quick questions you have while you make your way through edits. Even though I've completed edits, you will not be alone!
